    Dakota Lavery

    – Com’20 

    Dakota married his wife, Karen Law (BFA’19, Artsci/Ed’20) on Oct. 11, 2024. They met at Queen's as residence dons, where he worked at Victoria Hall and Karen at Gord-Brock. They celebrated with many of our classmates and colleagues from Queen's. Karen is now an emerging artist, and Dakota works in finance for Hiawatha First Nation. They are excited to start the next chapter of their lives together.

    Dr. Kaziwa Dylan

    – PhD’20

    Dr. Kaziwa’s book, Genocide Culture: Cultural Habitus, Ethnic Engineering and Religious Doxa, has been published by Routledge in 2024. Her book considers different stages of Kurdish history, oppression, and genocide through a critical lens, offering an historiography of Iraq and colonialism. Through interviews, primary archival documents and nonparticipant observation, Dr. Kaziwa studies the links between everyday cultural practices and microaggression in general, and the nexus between the state and the general population in the implementation of macroaggression and genocide.

    Michael Green and Taylor MacPherson

    Michael and Taylor are delighted to announce the arrival of their second child, Robin MacPherson-Green, born in November 2024. Story time is now even more special with two little ones, and, who knows, maybe they’ll be future literature majors, too!

    Victoria and John got married at the end of August. Many of their guests attended Queen’s, and John's dad is Sc’87 alumni too! They asked their guests to bring their GPAs and Artsci jackets for a group photo during the wedding.

    Meghan Palmer Sherwin

    In October of this year, Meghan was recognized as one of 16 Canadian leaders, across business, academia, and government, driving economic sustainability within Canada. She proudly accepted the Clean16 award for the manufacturing and transportation sector. As the president of the award-winning furniture company, Keilhauer, she has led the development of carbon-neutral products and implemented operational tangible improvements, driving Scope 1, 2 & 3 solutions. She continues to create meaningful impact in the manufacturing, lifestyle, and design industries, and looks forward to future opportunities within these sectors.

    Brock Jones

    Brock became a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 21, 2021. In 2024, he won the Walter Owen Award for legal publishing for the book, Modern Criminal Evidence, which he co-authored. The award is given for exceptional legal scholarship in Canada. The book is published by Toronto, Emond Publishing.
