Four sessions will be held on Wednesdays in August from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
Participants may attend an individual session or all four (a different registration is required for each session).

Session 4 covers Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

The Vice-Principal Research portfolio invites the Queen's research community to a virtual boot camp for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Discovery Grant program.

This boot camp is perfect for early career researchers, first-time applicants, and any other researchers interested in refamiliarizing themselves with the NSERC Discovery Grant.

Presentations will provide information about:

• Notification of Intent (NOI) process
• Full application process
• Practical and useful tips

During this two-part session, Queen's Research Projects Advisors Adrian Kelly and Diane Davies will introduce researchers to best practices for SSHRC Insight Grant applications and guide you through key application components using examples from successful applications. 

Participants may attend an individual session or both (a different registration is required for each session).

The goal of the stream is to inspire high-risk, high-reward and interdisciplinary research.  Exploration grants support research that pushes boundaries into exciting new areas. Researchers are encouraged to think “outside of the box,” undertake research that would defy current paradigms, and bring disciplines together in unexpected ways and from bold, innovative perspectives. With the Exploration stream, there is recognition that innovation often carries risk; proposals for high-risk research projects that have the potential to deliver game-changing impacts are strongly encouraged.

Exploration stream grants support projects that:

• bring disciplines together beyond traditional disciplinary or common interdisciplinary approaches;
• propose to explore something new, which might fail; and
• have the potential for significant impact.
